The Necessity of Nutrition
The Necessity of Nutrition in Modern Clinical Practice
By Dr. Greg Fors – Board Certified Neurologist
Patients have changed drastically, even over the last few decades. They are less active and tend to follow a diet of overconsumption and undernutrition. This creates the metabolic dysfunction of Insulin Resistance, Systemic Inflammation and Oxidative Stress that leads to our epidemic of: Obesity, Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease, Cancer and Diabetes.(1)(2) One out of every two Americans now has or is developing Insulin Resistance, which helps create this metabolic syndrome. This also puts your patients at risk for Chronic Myofascial Pain Disorders. Furthermore, the EPA’s National Human Adipose Tissue Survey (NHATS) now finds the five most toxic chemicals in 100% of the human tissue sampled. These are toxic chemicals that are known to promote metabolic dysfunction and are putting your patients at risk for chronic pain and degenerative diseases.
Complicating all of this, patients are now utilizing a polypharmacy approach to their health; mixing multiple prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs never tested in combination. In one study of the 40 most commonly used prescription and over-the-counter medications, the top three drugs consumed were NSAIDs: Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen and Aspirin.(3) More than 70 million prescriptions and more than 30 billion over-the-counter tablets of NSAIDs are sold annually in the US. The main driving force for this over-consumption of drugs is the metabolic dysfunction that leads to recurring pain of the back, neck and extremities.
Millions of Americans are crying out for Healthcare Professionals who can nutritionally treat the causes of their chronic musculoskeletal pain disorders. With the recent FDA warnings concerning NSAID use, and the removal of Vioxx from the market place, Americans with musculoskeletal pain are becoming more anxious and confused. The public is now demanding real answers from knowledgeable doctors on how they can best overcome their chronic pain and prevent degenerative diseases naturally!
To properly develop this exploding market, the clinician needs a good understanding of science-based nutritional care. Today’s clinician also needs quality nutritional products that treat the underlying metabolic imbalances of Systemic Inflammation, Oxidative Stress and Insulin Resistance, which can lead to the development of chronic pain and major healthcare problems. To help you achieve these clinical goals, Biospec NutritionalsTM has developed Protocols which utilize healthy diet, exercise and their ‘Signature Series’ Nutraceuticals. These Protocols, developed specifically for clinician use, may be considered when treating patients. Please do not miss out on this revolution in healthcare; provide true wellness care for your patients today!
